Subject Introduction and Features

Chinese Language is a core subject of our school. Integrated with the multicultural characteristics of our campus, our curriculum aligns with the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) requirements while catering to the learning needs of both Chinese and non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students. We have established a holistic language education system covering reading, writing, listening and speaking.

The department emphasises the inheritance of Chinese culture and the enhancement of practical language proficiency. Through classroom learning, school-based activities and competitions, we elevate students’ Chinese literacy, critical thinking and cultural confidence. We also support learner diversity to lay a solid foundation for HKDSE preparation, further studies, career development and lifelong learning.

Since the 2013/14 school year, the Chinese Language Department has been invited by the Education Bureau to become the first-ever Professional Development School for NCS Chinese Language Education in Hong Kong. Subsequently, we have also been appointed as a QEF Theme-based Network School and the Coordinating School of the QEF Theme-based Network, providing professional support and sharing experience for the development of NCS Chinese language education across local schools.
